LIBOR Sponsors 6th Annual Walk for St. Mary's Kids and Family Fun Day

Through this sponsorship, LIBOR’S “We’re More Than REALTORS®” logo will appear on one of the seven VANS (pictured) that travel throughout the state.

May, 2009 – West Babylon, NY - On Sunday, May 17th, the weather may have felt like a brisk autumn day, but that did not stop over 3,000 friends, families and teams joining St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children to help raise funds and awareness to support this exceptional organization, at their 6th Annual Walk for St. Mary’s Kids and Family Fun Day at Belmont Park. 

The Long Island Board of REALTORS® Inc, (LIBOR) through the “We’re More Than REALTORS®” Campaign, was proud to be a sponsor at this event, which raised over $100,000.  LIBOR President Buddy Hoosein, who was among one of the many REALTOR® “walkers” who trekked the three mile perimeter of the historic park, stated “We are very proud to be able to support St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children, and their commitment to improving the health and quality of life for children and families with special needs.  St. Mary’s consider the patient to be both the child as well as his or her family. They are dedicated to helping all children, whether near or far, and LIBOR is honored to help them further their mission.”
Five patients of St. Mary’s chosen as this year’s Grand Marshals joined sports heroes, including New York Racing Association (NYRA) jockeys and New York Jets Defensive Back Darrelle Revis, in leading participants on the half mile and three mile routes.

Following the Walk was St. Mary’s free Family Fun Day, with an array of activities for kids of all ages, including inflatables, arts and crafts, pony rides, bowling, a child fingerprinting station, live entertainment and a visit by New York Mets mascot, Mr. Met; a great time was had by all.

St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children is the largest provider of post-acute, complex medical care and rehabilitation for children with serious or life-threatening conditions in New York State.  Every day, St. Mary’s cares for through its award-winning network of inpatient, home care and community-based programs. Last year, LIBOR’S three Queens Chapters joined fundraising forces to raise $9,000 for St. Mary’s.  LIBOR’S Public Relations Committee graciously contributed $1,000 to this amount to make the total donation $10,000. These funds support St. Mary’s V.A.N. Program (Vehicular Access to Neighborhoods) which provides care to more than 4,000 children in all five boroughs of New York City, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, and Rockland counties.  Through this sponsorship, LIBOR’S “We’re More Than REALTORS®” logo will appear on one of the seven VANS (pictured) that travel throughout the state. 

LIBOR’s participation is one of many community initiatives from the organization's "We're More Than REALTORS®" campaign.  The campaign showcases the support Realtors® provide to communities and not-for-profit organizations.
