LIBOR REALTOR® Nicholas Gigante inaugurated as NYSAR Secretary/Treasurer
February, 2009 – West Babylon, NY - Nicholas Gigante, GRI, ITI, of Massapequa took the oath of office Monday, Feb. 2, as the 2009 secretary/treasurer of the New York State Association of REALTORS® (NYSAR) during the association’s inauguration ceremony, held in conjunction with its Business Meetings at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, NY. He will serve a one-year term in the post.
Gigante, a REALTOR® for more than 30 years, is the president and broker/owner of RE/MAX Shores. The firm, which has offices in Massapequa, Oceanside and Point Outlook, has 65 associates.
He has served on the Long Island Board of REALTORS®’ (LIBOR) Board of Directors since 1988, and served as LIBOR’s president in 1993. In 1994, he was honored as the local association’s REALTOR® of the Year. Gigante has been serving as a senior instructor since 1987, developing and teaching numerous courses for LIBOR, the Westchester County Board of REALTORS®, the Orange County Association of REALTORS® and the Otsego-Delaware Board of REALTORS®. In 2003, he began teaching the prestigious Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) courses for NYSAR.
Gigante serves on numerous committees and working groups at the state level including budget and finance, investment, real estate business services, legal action, legislative policy and sellers’ property condition disclosure. He has also served as chair of organizational planning, information management, legal action and education management. He served as NYSAR GRI Chapter president in 2006 and NYSAR Education Foundation president in 2007.
At the national level, Gigante has served on numerous committees and forums including board jurisdiction, multiple listing, education, federal housing and second-home and resort. In addition, he has served as an NAR director continuously since 2007, and also served as director in 1993.
Active in his community, Gigante serves as a donor and volunteer for Saint Rose of Lima, the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce, Ronald McDonald House, Vicardi Children’s Hospital, Toys for Tots and the Marty Lyons Foundation. In addition, he is a sponsor and donor for the Children’s Miracle Network Schnieder Children’s Hospital.
