Long Island Press Names
LIBOR CEO Joseph Mottola to 6th Annual Power List
May 2008 - West Babylon, NY - Each year, the LI Press
Power List committee rolls up its sleeves and begins to debate the merits
of what power means. E-mails flood into their in-boxes, the phones
ring off the hook and the pitches begin. According to Press staffers,
most of the people who are pitched to the committee by a third party
are not chosen for the list. And the reasons are obvious. Most
power players need no introduction. Their actions leave an indelible
mark, good or bad, that can affect thousands-even millions. Recently
members of the 50 Power List, which included Long Island Board of Realtors® CEO
Joseph Mottola, gathered at Maxwell & Dunne’s Restaurant to
be feted by their peers and admirers at a reception hosted by LI Press.
As the CEO of the 25,000-member Long Island Board of Realtors® (LIBOR), Mottola
leads the largest local realtor association in the country. LIBOR and its
wholly owned MLS subsidiary with 2,800 offices regionally, serve parts of New
York City and outlying suburban counties. Mottola has a 35 year background
in real estate. In his 30 year affiliation with the Board and MLS, he has
spearheaded many of the organizations’ accomplishments. Accomplishments
which include the transition of MLS computer installations and conversions; establishment
of in-house computer training facilities; installation of a Customer Service
Call Center and establishing Field Representatives as part of a formal outreach
service program.
According to John Caracciola of The Morey Organization, “Joseph Mottola
is on the Long Island Press’ 50 Power List for many reasons including his
leadership of the Long Island Board of Realtors and his commitment towards giving
back to the community as evidenced by LIBOR’s “We’re More
Than Realtors” campaign that provides scholarships to college students
and grants to some of our best not-for-profit organizations and charities.” “I’m
truly honored to have been selected for inclusion on the LI Press’ 50 Power
List,” said Mottola. “There are so many dedicated people in
influential positions in our region that make a difference in our suburban quality
of life and to be considered alongside them is a great honor,” Mottola
added.
