FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MLSLI.com Launches Multilingual Site
Provides Ability to “Find A Home” in 12 Different Languages

May 9, 2007 - West Babylon, NY - The Internet has become an integral part of our everyday lives providing an opportunity to communicate more rapidly and conduct business more effectively. In response to this opportunity, the Multiple Listing Service of Long Island, Inc., a computerized network of more than 2,600 cooperating real estate offices, located across Nassau, Suffolk and Queens counties, recently announced that www.MLSLI.com will be available to buyers and sellers in 12 different languages.  More Internet users are from countries where English is not the primary language and as a result, multilingual websites are becoming an effective tool for many organizations.  With MLSLI.com, visitors can now research available properties in 11 languages.   In addition to English, the site is available in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, German, Chinese (traditional and simplified), Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, Polish and Russian.

Visitors interested in searching for a home in their native language begin their property search on the Find A Home page of mlsli.com.  The site opens in English.  The visitor selects the appropriate country flag to display requested information in that country’s language.  (Flags are displayed on the bottom of the search page).  These translations work with specific fields.   For example, “Style” is converted to the requested language, however property descriptive text is not - nor are “Town” and “School District Names.”  Those text type fields will remain in English.

With thousands of languages and dialects available throughout the world, decisions on which languages should be initially represented, was determined by analyzing what would be most effective for Realtor® members in reaching their target audiences. Language selection was determined by analyzing general statistics on most frequent language usage throughout the Internet.  Additional languages were added as a result of an in-depth analysis on Long Island market trends.

By offering the multilingual property search feature, new lines of communication will open with international customers and will open opportunities to a wider audience of buyers and sellers.  Don Scanlon, MLSLI President explained that, “Offering web content in several languages enables our members to serve their customers and promote our business more effectively and efficiently.  This is an incredible opportunity for MLSLI.com to open our door to the international market and break down the language barrier on information available to our customers.”
