Long Island Realtors® Gather to Discuss Fair Housing
and Cultural Awareness at Seminar
April 24, 2007 – West Babylon,
NY - On Friday, April 20 more than 100 members of the Long Island Board
of Realtors® gathered at Towers on the Green in Floral
Park to tackle the subject of fair housing and cultural awareness as
part of a seminar entitled: “Learn More to Earn More By Knowing
the Law” led by Carmela Ma, President of CJM Associates of Beverly
Hills, California. Ms. Ma is an internationally recognized licensed
real estate broker and consultant whose transactions include industrial
developments in Africa, Europe and Asia; estates from Italy to Beverly
Hills; and investment properties in Hong Kong and California. Ms. Ma
has counseled institutional and international clients on acquisition,
disposition, strategic planning, brokers selection, risk reduction, portfolio
analysis and value enhancement.
The seminar brought together Realtors® from across Long Island
and the New York metropolitan area to discuss issues related to fair
housing regulations, cultural diversity and awareness. Ms. Ma’s
topics included a review of federal fair housing laws, the cost of litigation,
and how the real estate industry should thrive in a climate of cultural
diversity and acceptance.
According to Linda Bonarelli, President of the Long Island Board of
Realtors®, “The
real estate industry, and in particular real estate brokers and salespeople,
must be well versed in federal, state and local fair housing regulations. Having
a clear understanding of fair housing laws and regulations will allow
our members to provide the best realty services available to our clients
and customers.”
